Today I have the delight of presenting you Erika’s beautiful and impressive story, as she was kind enough to share it on my blog so that we could all enjoy it. I hope you like it as much as I do!

Hello to everyone who’s going to read the story of how I became a big Thalía fan.

My name is Elena Alina (but everyone knows me as Erika) and I was born 30 years ago, in a small Romanian city, called Adjud. It was a warm spring day in 1998 (March or April, I don’t remember exactly) and I was outside, playing with my friends. And at 4 o’clock in the afternoon, they all ran home to watch ‘Marimar’ (aired by PRO TV). I asked them: ‘What is Marimar?’ and they told me it was a telenovela starring a beautiful and talented actress and told me a little bit about the plot. The truth is it didn’t really catch my attention, but as they left me alone, I went and watched it too, more because of curiosity. It was the episode where Sergio Santibañez sees Negra Corazón at the airport and realizes that Bella Aldama is Marimar. When Thalía appeared, I said to myself: ‘WOW! She’s the most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen.’ Her natural beauty made a huge impact on me. From that day on, I started watching her daily, and with every episode, I would cry more and more… Sadly, it was over in a few weeks. On April 18 (I remember that clearly because it was my dad’s birthday and all the guests were asking me why I was crying) the last episode aired. I have to mention that until then, it was the telenovela with the highest rating in Romania, and today, María la del Barrio’ holds that record. A few weeks later, another channel (Prima TV) aired ‘María Mercedes’, which I watched completely and like ‘Marimar’, moved me deeply.

thalia-es-mi-vida1

A few months went by, and in autumn, another channel (Acasa TV) started airing ‘María la del Barrio’ at 6:30 in the evening. And since I had to be at school until 7, I always skipped the last class so I could watch it. It was the telenovela that I liked the most and to this day is still my favorite. With 3 telenovelas aired here, Thalía was a phenomenon. Different magazines of the genre started being released, and every issue had large articles about her that I would cut out and put in an album. I could see her ‘Amor a la mexicana’, ‘Piel morena’, ‘Amándote’ and ‘Por amor’ videos all the time on every music channel and not only. I was very happy… I already adored Thalía and I wanted to know more about her. And one day, a classmate and I went to the only music store in my city and I couldn’t believe it when I saw 4 of her albums displayed there (Amor a la mexicana, En éxtasis, Jugo de éxitos and Mis mejores momentos). I wanted to buy them all immediately, but because of lack of money, I only bought En éxtasis, because it had more songs that I already knew. I asked the salesman to keep the rest of the albums for a few days for me, while I gathered the money. I went home extremely happy and everyday I used to listen to my album, my treasure with the volume all the way up. Over the next three weeks, I managed to buy the rest of the albums, plus Love and Mundo de cristal, which the store had brought thanks to the high demand.

Let’s continue with 1998… and I have to tell you that on New Year’s Eve, Acasa TV aired for 2 hours fragments of the concerts in Perú, Philippines and Ecuador, as well as the special ‘Love y otras fantasías’. I can’t put in words what I felt when I watched them. I was extremely fascinated, it was a different Thalía that I was seeing… more sensual, more provocative, more explosive, more energetic, but with the same sweet and innocent face that she had in the telenovelas. I loved ‘La vie en rose’, ‘Amarillo azul’ and ‘Love’ a lot. And that’s what 1998 was like for me, a year full of Thalía.

Months were passing by, every week I was buying all the magazines, listening to the albums… and in September of 1999, PRO TV gave us ‘Rosalinda’, her most recent telenovela. The story wasn’t news to me, since thanks to the magazines, I already knew what it was about. From Monday to Friday, 5 to 6 in the evening, my mom and I would be in front of the TV no matter what. Since I was already in high school, I had classes in the morning. I would like to add that my mom also loves Thalía and prefers her with the look she had in Julio Iglesias’ video, ‘Baila morena’. In April, 2000, I sent her a letter (8 pages) to an address I found in a magazine. I don’t know if she ever got it, but I was very happy thinking that she did. By that time, all my friends and family knew what Thalía meant to me, an idol, a role model. Because of that, I started watching all the shows on TVE Internacional, and was trying to learn Spanish, imagining that one day I would find her and talk to her. The same happened on March 13, 2000. I was at a friend’s house and asked her to change the channel to TVE. It was an entertainment show. I watched it for a few minutes and then the host announced that they had a special guest who traveled a long distance and when she said ‘Thalía‘ I got up of the sofa and started shouting like crazy. I couldn’t believe it. And when she entered the stage, I couldn’t contain my emotions and so I started crying. I was shaking of happiness. With tears in my eyes, I watched her sing ‘Arrasando‘, song that I was listening for the first time. I couldn’t sleep the entire night… the only thing in my thoughts was her image…

In 2001, ‘Marimar’ re-aired for the first time and thank God, I could watch it entirely. Seeing the first episodes, I understood why my friends had been so crazy about it. It’s impossible not to fall in love with la costeñita. The same year, the ‘Arrasando’ album made it to my city. I bought it and at first I would only listen to ‘Arrasando’, to relive those moments when I saw her live, on the Spanish channel. It’s one of my favorite albums and the song I like the most is ‘Regresa a mí’. In 2002, I bought ‘Thalía’ and in 2003, ‘Thalía’ in English. In 2003 I also graduated from high school and moved to the capital to study at the University. I was 19 and my love for ‘Thalía’ was growing every day. The TV stations started re-airing her telenovelas every year and other shows too, like ‘Otro Rollo’, ‘Cristina Show’ and the Lo Nuestro, Juventud, Latin Billboard and Latin Grammy awards with Thalía. In 2006 I bought ‘Thalía con banda: Grandes éxitos’, ‘Greatest Hits’ and ‘El sexto sentido’. And that’s how years went by…

In 2008 I learned how to use the computer and every day I used to watch her videos on Youtube and kept checking her official site, www.thalia.com. In 2010 I went to France for a few months to take a Math course and while there I met a girl, Claudette, who was also a fan of Thalia’s. We became friends immediately and we both signed up on Facebook and our first like was on Thalia’s page, www.facebook.com/thalia. I started adding to my list of friends all the people who left comments on her photos. That way I also met Amelia.

She told me that Thalia also had an account on Twitter and that there it would be easier for me to get in touch with her. I signed up on March 22 and the first person I followed was Thalía. These were my first tweets: twit 1twit 2twit 3twit4twit5. Thanks to Twitter, I knew Thalía’s every move. In April of the same year, she went to Spain and thanks to the Internet I could watch her on ‘UAU’ and ‘Corazón de Primavera’. It was magical! After 10 years I could watch her again, live. But this time she was closer to me, since the distance between Spain and France is shorter. The same month, I created my first blogs for Thalía, thaliaparasiempre.blogspot.com and www.lovethalia.webs.com and I started publishing news and photomontages that I made in Photoshop. At the end of the month, I came back to Romania and I wouldn’t stay away from my computer. In November Thalía gave me the best gift, her follow. After that, she gave me lots of RTs and favorites (RT 1RT 2RT 3RT 4RT 5). In September of 2011, I created the third site, www.thaliaesmivida.com, which now has over 500 thousand visits.

On Twitter I met more Thalía fans, like Ana, who gave me as a gift a Thalía special from the TV y Novelas magazine and the album ‘Primera fila… un año despues‘ and Giota, who gave me ‘Lunada’. I also started to buy different Thalía products on Amazon. Last year in April, Thalía also followed me on Instagram and liked the following photos: foto 1foto 2foto 3foto 4foto 5foto 6foto 7foto 8foto 9foto 10 plus left a comment, foto 11foto 12foto 13foto 14foto 15foto 16.

Today, after 16 years, I have more than a thousand clippings of Romanian newspapers and magazines, different other magazines (People en Español, Quién, TV Notas, Hola México, TV y Novelas) in digital format, almost all of her official albums, her books, almos 40 thousand photos I got from the Internet and stored on my computer, posters etc. Of course I still need a lot of things, like her Kenmark glasses, her C&A collection, some Hershey’s sweets and more products that are shown here. But even so, I declare myself the no.1 thalifanatic in my country. Two weeks ago I started editing an interactive magazine released in digital format, with all the best news about Thalia of the previous 15 days. Every month two editions will be released, full of information about Thalia and beautiful photos. More details about my magazine here. Now I’m anxious to receive her children’s album, Viva Kids, which captivated me with its songs, especially ‘Caballo de palo’, ‘Garabato colorado‘ and ‘En un bosque de la China‘.

And that’s my story of being a thalifan. My biggest regret is not having been able to travel to Spain last year, due to personal reasons… But I don’t lose hope that one day, I’ll meet Thalía. It will be my biggest achievement in life. I love her with all my strength.

Thanks to everyone who took their time to read my lines and of course, to Ana-Maria, who had the kindness to publish my story on her site!

Thalia – Viva Kids – Reseña del álbum

thaliavivakids

Thalia – Viva Kids – Album review

thaliavivakids

With a music career of over 20 years, 11 studio albums and 2 live ones, Thalia still has A LOT to offer. She’s an artist who constantly reinvents herself, who is not afraid of being different and trying out new things and today she presents her first children’s album, a project that has been on her “to do” list for a while now. Inspired by her two children and by the beauty of childhood, Thalia gives a new life to the songs that she grew up with, on an album that will certainly enchant the little ones, as well as the nostalgics and those who haven’t let go of their inner child.

The album opens with the well-known “Tema de Chupi”, the song that accompanied Thalia’s children’s book, “Chupie: The Binky That Returned Home”. It’s a happy song that will put everyone in a good mood, no matter the age. After listening to this song, you are ready for what’s coming next!

Vamos a Jugar, the second track and also the first single from the album is a cheerful song with a country vibe, that will make children dance and clap along. I can already imagine this song being played at children’s birthday parties!

(Click on the song titles to listen to them)

El piojo y la pulga tells the story of a louse and a flea who want to get married but encounter various difficulties, which they get past thanks to other animals who offer their help. It’s a funny song that also counts with a choir of children who sing in the background. Besides the kids, Maria la del Barrio fans will definitely love this song too!

The next song on the album, El garabato colorado is slightly different from what we’ve heard so far, the melody a bit melancholic, but I love Thalia’s interpretation and her sweet voice on this song, which makes it one of my favorites so far. Also, I wish I could be a 1st grader again…

But enough with the melancholy, let’s get back to the upbeat songs with La risa de las vocales! People are going to say that Thalia sings like a man on this one 😛 I don’t know why she chose to sing in a lower key, but it doesn’t bother me either, I still think the song turned out great.

thaliachildren

We get another page turn as Caballo de palo is probably the saddest children’s song ever… I hope this song will make the little ones appreciate a bit more all the things they have and maybe even think about all the other children that might not have as many toys as them. Parents, when you play this song to your children, talk to them about this, encourage them to do something nice together for kids in hospitals or orphanages… you may be surprised by the generosity of your children.

En un bosque de la China is the opposite of La risa de las vocales, Thalia interprets this song as you would expect her to do on a children’s album, with her sweet, enchanting voice. The Chinese influences are great too!

The following song is the only one in English on the album, as well as the only cover of a modern song. Sugar Rush, originally in Japanese, was featured on the soundtrack of the animated movie Wreck-It Ralph. This song is probably dedicated to Thalia’s son, Matthew Alejandro, as we’ve seen on different occasions that he really loved that movie 😀

As we’re getting closer to the end of the album, we have Las Mañanitas, the traditional Mexican birthday song. Thalia stays true to her roots and I’m sure people will appreciate her version of this song.

Teddy bear

Osito carpintero proves one again Thalia’s ability to tell a story through her singing, I bet if you gave her a children’s book (or any book) she could sing it without a problem. If your kids want to hear a bedtime story when you have a sore throat or lost your voice to the flu, you can play this song to them instead!

Speaking of bedtime, the last track on the album, Estrellita, is another perfect song for that, it’s so peaceful it almost made me want to go to sleep even though I first listened to it only a couple of hours after I had woken up. As if Thalia’s voice weren’t enough, the piano and the sound of the waves towards the end of the song are simply wonderful. What a great way of ending this album!

All that being said, it’s clear that a lot of work was put in this album, it wasn’t just something done in a hurry. The production is great, Thalia gave her best on these songs and when you put passion in what you do, you can’t go wrong. I applaud Thalia for what she’s done and if you didn’t have much faith in Viva Kids, I hope that changed now.

You can find the album on iTunes and Amazon.

Thalia: Asi Es Como Lo Hacemos – Webisode 5

Today, accompany me to “La Ideal” Mexican bakery where I learned, from my teacher Julio Cesar, how to make sweet bread. It was fun, and surprising at the same time, since I never imagined the process to make such delicious sweet bread was so detailed. Once again, I enjoyed getting to know better our people, my people in “This Is How We Do It”.

Yaaaaaay, Asi es como lo hacemos is back!! I’m glad Thalia finally left the Waldorf Astoria Hotel and headed to a different location, I was really looking forward to a change of scenery. I’ve also been waiting for her to try a food related job, as we all know she never says no to a delicious meal hehe but we also know she doesn’t usually cook either so it was fun to watch her prepare her own sweet bread.

Nailed it!

I’m not a big cook myself, although I like baking and trying out new recipes once in a while, but I got to admit that Thalia did a much better job at cracking the eggs than I do, it takes me forever to do it hahaha Speaking of eggs, of course Thalia also had to crack a joke 😛 which made the shy Julio Cesar laugh for the first time during this video.

I may be slow, but I don’t do this 😛

The only thing missing from this webisode (ehm, apart from the English subtitles) is the behind the scenes at the end of it! Please, don’t take them away from us!! Other than that, it is as entertaining as the first four!

Asi Es Como Lo Hacemos comes out every Monday, so don’t forget to subscribe to Thalia’s channel! https://www.youtube.com/thalia

Thalia Viva Tour En Vivo (Documental)

I didn’t think Sony would also upload the Viva Tour documentary, but I’m SO HAPPY they did! There are so many feelings and thoughts I could share about it, so prepare yourselves for one of the longest and most sentimental posts I’ve ever written on this blog.

When I first watched this documentary a few months ago, I got goose bumps, I smiled, I was happy, I was sad, I cried and I smiled again. And when I hit that play button today, the same thing happened all over again.

Remembering Primera Fila, seeing that vulnerable Thalia again, taking a look back at the recognition that album brought her, seeing her mother celebrating with her after the concert and realizing that they weren’t able to do the same thing after the Viva Tour ones, listening to Thalia talk about her absence, all while that beautiful music is playing… it’s impossible not to be moved by all that. And then we see Thalia find strength in music, accepting the challenge of going on tour and making her family life work with her professional one.

Thalia’s sense of humor is undeniable and it doesn’t take long until this documentary becomes funny thanks to her jokes. She laughs at the bust size of the dresses made of her, saying they were actually meant for Tommy’s ex 😛 She also reveals one of her darkest secrets, a mischief that involved a national heritage monument and some soap 😀 One of my favorite parts is also the one with the cleaning ladies, who are trying to figure out if Thalia’s there and then she rehearses being carried like a Queen and the lady we see keeps doing her job while looking at Thalia hahaha Priceless! Hearing Thalia say “No mamen, no mamen, no mamen” before going on stage was another funny thing, as well as the part where she talks about someone trying to hand her their small child as she passed through the audience 😀

The footage of the tour concerts is great, as well as the F.A.N.S parts, where they sing Manias with all their hearts, holding flags and signs, or we meet some of the Brazilian fans who traveled to Mexico City just for her. When it comes to the Auditorio Nacional concerts, I was surprised (in a positive way) by a few things. First, that Thalia seemed to be afraid they wouldn’t sell out a concert there, not to mention two, that she was nervous about doing the shows there because of the standards that such a venue imposes, because to me these things are proof of what a humble artist he is. I was also impressed by how she dealt with the problems that appeared, like being sick, having trouble with the wardrobe or technical difficulties with the screens. She remained positive, joked about going on stage in her jeans and said that as long as the band would be able to play with her, everything would be alright. What a great attitude!

Another thing that I found interesting is what Thalia said in the car about constant flattery and being able to choose objective people, who are straightforward and honest with her. When I first watched this, I finally understood why she favorited a couple of my posts that weren’t the most praising ones, as I had also pointed out things that bothered me in them. Tommy is probably going to receive some hate for his dancers comment, but I agree with him on some level, I think it would have been a mistake to use them too much, but it would have also been a mistake not to use them at all.

The most emotional part of the documentary is given by the remembrance of Thalia’s mother, from the video in the beginning, to the edited images of her cheering for her daughter at rehearsals, to the earphones Thalia had custom made with her mother’s catchphrase “Venga mi reina, como de que no”, to the fans eyes in tears during Habitame Siempre… I said to myself I wasn’t going to cry this time, but I did it anyway…

On the other hand, the sweetest part is seeing Thalia’s children, we don’t get to see them that often, not to mention in a video, so those moments Thalia shared with us are magical. Matthew Alejandro made my heart melt in an instant and Sabrina Sakae is such a nice girl 🙂 I don’t know what was going through her mind when she asked if they were going to give the video to a stranger, but I loved that she was ok with that and even asked for it to happen 😀 I wish I could hug her and tell her we’re not strangers, we’re her friends!

Well, I think I should stop here, by adding only that I loved every bit of this documentary and if I hadn’t become Thalia’s fan 4 years ago after seeing Primera Fila and its documentary, that totally would have happened now. I hope this is an eye opener for those who still haven’t realized how AMAZING Thalia is!

Thalia and Sony Music, thank you for this wonderful gift!

Videos: Thalia – Amor a la Mexicana, Hits Medley (Viva Tour)

Well… here are the last two videos of Thalia’s DVD Viva Tour En Vivo (thank you Sony Music for uploading all of them), what a great ending to an excellent show!

Thalia saved the best for last, her iconic song, Amor a la Mexicana, was probably one of the most expected of the night by the 10.000 people who went to see her at the Auditorio Nacional and Thalia did not disappoint, showing once again how proud she is of being Mexican… and loving like one. 😀

Her face when she looked at the Hot Guy and he kissed her hand hahaha:

The Hits Medley was the most electric performance of the show, leaving everyone crave for more! It rose to the name of the tour, VIVA!, Thalia sang and danced her heart out and had the time of her life! Watching all this makes me really, really happy ♥ cause I love her so much and her happiness is my happiness too.

I hope this tour and especially the concerts in Mexico inspired Thalia to want to get back on stage soon!
